Taekwondo star Rupa Bayor to represent India at Asian Games in Japan, Khandu applauds

ITANAGAR, Aug 23: Bringing a double delight for Arunachal Pradesh, ace taekwondo athlete Rupa Bayor has also qualified to represent India at the 20th Asian Games in Japan, following Nyeman Wangu’s qualification for the top sporting event in Asia.

With Rupa making it to the Indian contingent for 2026 Asian Games, Chief Minister Pema Khandu has commended her terming it “ a proud moment for the entire nation.”

Taking to his ‘X’ handle, Khandu said: “Congratulations Miss Rupa Bayor! It is a moment of immense pride and joy to see you selected to represent India in Taekwondo at the 20th Asian Games 2026 in Japan.”
