ITANAGAR: Aug 23: The Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) accorded a warm send-off to its active member, Dr MQ Khan, who retired as Principal of Dera Natung Govt College on superannuation on 31st July last.
The event was held as part of the APLS’ 154th monthly sitting, chaired by its president Y D Thongchi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Khan reflected on his academic career as a college teacher of English literature and spoke of his contribution to developing the infrastructure of DNGC. He urged the State’s younger generation to follow the path shown by their teachers, saying it is through that path alone that one can truly shine in life.
Members present, many of them Dr Khan’s former students, recalled how he had inspired and motivated them towards success in their own lives. Among the senior members who spoke on the occasion were Nani Kojin, Sokhep Kri, Inumoni Das Thongchi, and Nomi Mega Gumro.
Applauding Dr Khan’s contribution to the development of literature in Arunachal Pradesh, Thongchi said that Dr Khan possesses vast knowledge of literature, and that both he and the State’s budding writers had benefited immensely from him.
Takhe Yasa, Gumro, and Tarh Susana read out their poems on the occasion, while Sokhep enthralled everyone present with melodious ghazals and old Hindi songs.
Earlier, giving a warm welcome to Dr Khan, general secretary Mukul Pathak said that while APLS may have bid adieu to Dr Khan, he would remain a member of the Society forever, wherever he may live.
