Itanagar, Aug 24: Arunachal Pradesh has once again earned national recognition in the field of school education with the selection of Yaku Tame, Headmistress of Government Secondary School, G-Sector, Naharlagun, for the prestigious National Teachers’ Award 2026.
Yaku Tame has been selected for the national honour in recognition of her dedicated service to education, school development and efforts towards promoting the Nyishi language.
President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers’ Awards 2026 on September 5, Teachers’ Day, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
This year, 48 outstanding school educators—26 men and 22 women—from 27 States, seven Union Territories and six Central organisations have been selected for the award.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulated Yaku Tame on her selection and said he was delighted that Arunachal Pradesh had once again produced a recipient of the National Teachers’ Award.
“Her well-deserved national honour is a matter of pride for the state,” Khandu said, extending his best wishes to the veteran educator.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also extended his congratulations to Tame, describing the recognition as a proud moment for Arunachal Pradesh.
Mein appreciated her dedication to students and commitment to education and wished her continued success in the years ahead.
The selection of Tame for the national honour is seen as recognition not only of her long and dedicated service as an educator but also of her contribution to school development and the preservation and promotion of the Nyishi language.
