DC calls for concerted efforts to improve HPV vaccination coverage across East Siang district

PASIGHAT, Aug 25: The 1st Quarter District Task Force for Immunization (DTFI)-cum-General Body Meeting of the District Health Society, East Siang was held at the DC’s conference hall here today, with Deputy Commissioner Sonalika Jiwani chairing the meet.

Appreciating the positive performance of the Health Department, the DC encouraged the team led by the DMO to sustain and further improve the achievements. She also assured the department of all possible support from the district administration.

Stressing the need to strengthen Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities on HPV vaccination, the DC called for concerted efforts to improve HPV vaccination coverage across the district.

Attended by the District Medical Officer, District Reproductive and Child Health Officer (DRCHO), Deputy Director, Women & Child Development (DD WCD), Deputy Director of School Education (DDSE), medical officer (RI), medical officers-in-charge of various health facilities, Health & Wellness Officers (HWOs), and representatives from WHO, VHAI and JSI, the meeting began with a welcome address by DMO Dr Dilip Dutta, followed by a PPT presentation on the performance of the Health Department during FY 2025–26 and the first quarter of FY 2026–27.

The presentation, made by Epidemiologist-cum-MO (RI) Dr Kentaii Pangkam, also highlighted the status of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in East Siang district.

Various key health services and programmes, including Antenatal Care (ANC), Routine Immunization (RI), Dulari Kanya Scheme, CMAAY/PMJAY and National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) activities, were reviewed and analysed during the meeting.

Representatives of WHO, VHAI and JSI, along with the District Tuberculosis Officer (DTO), also presented updates on the performance and activities of their respective programmes.
