NIRJULI, Aug 27: Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak has called upon young civil service aspirants of Arunachal Pradesh to strive not only for success in competitive examinations but also to become responsible and compassionate public servants guided by integrity, duty and the spirit of “Nation First”.
Addressing the ‘APCS HOME Sponsor, Student and Parent Meet 2026’ at the APCS HOME residential campus here as chief guest, Tagak said the journey of an aspirant should not end with securing a government position. Before becoming a good officer, he said, one must first become a good human being.
He urged the young aspirants, described as “Eklavyas”, to become true Karmayogis committed to serving society and the nation. Public service should rise above personal interests, while positions of responsibility should be regarded as opportunities to serve people and address their difficulties, he said.
Referring to Amrit Kaal and the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, as envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tagak said the coming years would be crucial for India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation as the country completes 100 years of Independence. He said the present generation of young people has an important role to play in making this vision a reality.
The MP encouraged the aspirants to work relentlessly, strengthen their abilities and uphold the highest standards of integrity. He also urged them to think beyond themselves, their communities and the boundaries of Arunachal Pradesh and carry the spirit of “Nation First” wherever they serve.
State Legislative Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte attended the programme as guest of honour. Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor, Nari-Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu, State’s Chief Information Commissioner Maj Gen (Retd) Jarken Gamlin, ATI Director Pate Marik and other dignitaries were also present.
The programme brought together civil service aspirants, parents, mentors, sponsors and well-wishers from across the State. Parents and guardians representing 13 Assembly constituencies, from Lumla in western Arunachal to Anjaw in the east, participated in the gathering to support the aspirations of their children.
The programme began with ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by the APCS HOME theme song, “Eklavya Aaj, Karmayogi Kal.”
Entrance Examination Coordinator Bengia Ama highlighted the team’s efforts to identify deserving aspirants through a fair and transparent selection process across 13 Assembly constituencies, including remote areas.
Academic Head Neeraj Pandey spoke about models of civil service preparation adopted in different parts of the country and highlighted the role of structured academic guidance, mentoring and residential learning environments.
Project Director Ajay Tamang said APCS HOME aims to nurture young aspirants as “Eklavyas today and Karmayogis tomorrow”, with emphasis not only on examination preparation but also on discipline, integrity, responsibility, compassion and commitment to public service.
The gathering concluded with a call to the young aspirants to work hard, remain grounded, help those in need and place national interest above personal considerations, reflecting the central message of “Eklavya Aaj, Karmayogi Kal.”
