ITANAGAR, Aug 27: The NSS Cell of Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) organized a Khelo India Dialogue and online interaction programme with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of the upcoming National Sports Day.
The Khelo India Dialogue is a nationwide initiative aimed at encouraging youth participation in sports, promoting a culture of fitness and highlighting the achievements of Indian sportspersons.
The programme provided an opportunity for students and young participants to interact virtually and listen to the Prime Minister’s address.
Two prominent sports icons from Arunachal Pradesh—Raja Yangfo, international karateka, and Gyamar Yatup, national Wushu champion—participated in the Yuva Samvad along with the participants and shared their experiences and perspectives on sports, discipline and opportunities for young athletes.
The programme was attended by Dr N T Rikam, Registrar; Dr David Pertin, Jt Registrar; Dr Anil Milli, Coordinator, Dept of Sports Science; Gomar Basar, Dy Registrar; Dr Tadang Minu, ANO, NCC; and Dr A Yuvraj, ADPE, representatives of State Mera Yuva Bharat Directorate along with faculty members, NSS volunteers and students.
The event emphasized the importance of sports in youth development and encouraged students to actively participate in sporting activities while pursuing excellence at the local, national and international levels.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment by the RGU community to promote sports, fitness and the holistic development of young people.
KHONSA: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Wangcha Rajkumar Govt College (WRGC), Deomali, organized the ‘My Bharat–National Sports Day 2026’–Khelo India Samvaad Programme themed ‘Khel Ki Baat PM Ke Saath’ at Adhyaan: The Learning Pavilion on the college campus today.
The programme was attended by around 100 participants, including Dr Watsen Bangsia, Principal WRGC; Ngamwang Lowang, Programme Officer, NSS Unit; Sukhveer Bishnoi, District Youth Officer, My Bharat, Tirap district; Yorter Gangkak, Taekwondo athlete (Sports Authority of India); faculty members, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets.
National Sports Day is observed every year on August 29 to commemorate the birth anniversary of legendary hockey player and national icon Major Dhyan Chand and to reaffirm the nation’s commitment to promoting sports, physical fitness, discipline and excellence.
The programme also featured a virtual address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which inspired and encouraged young participants to strive for higher levels of excellence in sports and embrace physical fitness through discipline, dedication and hard work.
The programme also featured an interactive session with Yorter. Participants actively engaged in discussions and raised queries regarding career opportunities in sports, healthy living, time management, discipline, punctuality and the importance of regular exercise in achieving personal goals.
Bishnoi highlighted the immense potential of youth and encouraged the participants to enroll themselves on the My Bharat portal to access information and opportunities related to youth development. He also shared insights into the objectives and activities of NSS and My Bharat.
Earlier, the PO (NSS Unit) emphasised the importance of inculcating physical fitness, discipline and perseverance among young people. He urged the youth to draw inspiration from sporting legends and emulate their dedication, determination and achievements in their daily lives.
The programme concluded with the administration of ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat’ pledge, led by the WRGC Principal, reaffirming the commitment of the youth towards a healthy, disciplined and drug-free society.
ROING, Aug 27: The Khelo India Samvaad, a Yuva Connect Programme, two days prior to National Sports Day 2026, was organized today as a nationally synchronized youth engagement initiative at Roing, Lower Dibang Valley district.
The programme featured a virtual address by the Prime Minister, followed by a Khelo India Dialogue with local sportspersons, youth icons, public representatives and participating youth.
The programme witnessed active participation from youth of JTGMD College and Govt Polytechnic College, Roing. NSS volunteers were mobilized and coordinated by the District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, District Administration and NSS Programme Officers.
The Youth Icons present during the programme were Kesaya Elapra (Under-17 National Badminton Player), Prisha Kachari (U-17 National Badminton Player), Abida Begum (District and State Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Winner; represented Arunachal Pradesh at the National Parliament) and Agano Linggi (Khelo India Football Coach).
DSO Roy Mihu, District Youth Officer MY Bharat Prashik Purushottam Rodge, NSS Programme Officers, JTGMD College, Imbo Pulu and Okiling Lego were also present.
The Khelo India Dialogue provided an interactive platform for youth to engage with sportspersons and youth icons, encouraging them to take up sports, develop a healthy lifestyle and contribute towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat. (With DIPROs inputs)
