KHONSA, Aug 28: In a remarkable show of skill, discipline, and determination, Tirap made the district proud by bagging overall second position at the 6th State Level Judo Championship held at Itanagar.
The medal winners include: boys - Kamdon Boi (gold), Danshi Pangthok (gold, silver & bronze), Yumyang Nokpa (gold), Ganchin Pansa (gold), Nenthok Pangkhen (silver), Rangmo Rangsong (silver), Najen Homnyu (silver), Somjak Tinlom (silver), Nali Mitpo (bronze) and Sijen Khonlom (bronze).
Girls - Silom Tesia (gold), Ngoinem Bo (2 gold), Pona Jenchan (gold & silver), Chapo Hakhun (silver), Pangcha Phuksa (silver), Chengkat Songthing (silver), Pongam Pansa (2 bronze), Ngona Wangcha (bronze) and Pomen Teppa (2 bronze).
Following their appreciable feat, the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Tirap organised a felicitation programme to honour the district’s judo players who delivered an impressive performance at the State level Judo Championship 2026.
Tirap Deputy Commissioner lauded the players for their outstanding achievement and commended their dedication towards the sport. He encouraged the young athletes to continue striving for excellence and to represent the district and the state at higher levels.
District Sports Officer N Mongku congratulated all medal winners and appreciated their hard work and perseverance. He also acknowledged the efforts of the coach Kabin Doyum for her guidance and commitment in grooming the players.
The felicitation programme was attended by officials from the Dept of Sports & Youth Affairs, coaches, and well-wishers, who celebrated the success of the athletes and expressed confidence in their future achievements.
