ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has urged the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB) to strictly implement the uniform eligibility criteria prescribed by the state government for recruitment to government jobs.
Addressing a press conference here on Friday, AAPSU president Meje Taku welcomed the state government’s notification on uniform eligibility criteria for government job recruitment, which mandates documents including the Permanent Residence Certificate (PRC), Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribe (APST) Certificate and working knowledge of an indigenous tribal language.
Taku appealed to the recruiting agencies to issue job advertisements at the earliest to provide eligible youths sufficient time to prepare and apply for the posts.
The apex students’ body also urged all government departments to clearly disclose the total number of vacancies before initiating recruitment. It said transparent information on vacancies was essential to ensure equal opportunities for job seekers and urged departments to immediately furnish details of vacant posts to the recruiting agencies.
The AAPSU also raised concern over individuals allegedly holding multiple government jobs in different departments. Describing the practice as a violation of the “one man, one job” policy, the union said it could deprive other eligible unemployed youths of employment opportunities.
The union appealed to such individuals to voluntarily resign from one of the posts and allow the vacancies to be offered to other eligible candidates.
