Itanagar, Aug 30: The Naharlagun Police has made significant progress in a theft case with the recovery of 12 two-wheelers, gold and silver ornaments and other suspected stolen properties from various locations in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, police on Sunday.
The recoveries were made in connection with Naharlagun PS Case No. 84/2026 under Section 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), registered in connection with a series of thefts reported from Naharlagun, Banderdewa, Nirjuli and adjoining areas.
Naharlagun SP Dr Nyelam Nega said that habitual offender Toko Gotam, 23, of Deed village, Yachuli, Keyi Panyor district, and resident of Middle Hollong village, Papum Pare district, had earlier been arrested in connection with the case.
The investigation was led by Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, Inspector K Dev, along with SI V Linggi, head constable T Kochi, constables T Dawa, Sanu Raj T and lady constable J Sorang, under the close supervision of Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo.
Through sustained investigation and coordinated raids conducted at various locations across Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, the police team recovered 12 two-wheelers along with gold and silver ornaments and other suspected stolen properties.
The recovered vehicles include two TVS Ntorq 125 scooters bearing registration numbers AR 01M 8202 and AR 07 7255; an Aprilia SR 125; a black Yamaha FZ; a Hero Xoom 125 ZX (Regn No. AR 01W 3632), along with its RC; a deep purplish-blue Yamaha R15 (AR 01Q 6037); a Hero Maestro Edge ZX (AS 12R 8608); a blue Yamaha Ray ZR; a red-and-black scooter with blue external coating; a Yamaha Cygnus Ray Z (AR 02 2054); a TVS Ntorq Super Edition; and a red-dragon-coloured Aprilia SR 125 with suspected registration number ML05T0633.
Apart from the two-wheelers, police recovered two gold chains, one gold ring, two silver chains, one battery, one pump and a Realme mobile phone.
SP Dr Nyelam Nega appreciated the efforts of the investigating team and said the investigation remains underway, with further recoveries expected. He appealed to the public to remain vigilant and take adequate precautions while parking vehicles, particularly during night hours.
Police also requested owners of two-wheelers reported missing or stolen in recent months to contact the Naharlagun SDPO or the Naharlagun Police Station OC with relevant ownership documents for verification and identification of the recovered vehicles.
