MEBO, Sep 1: A new community organisation, Left Bank Warriors, has been formed in Mebo sub-division, East Siang district, with an aim to promote environmental conservation, youth engagement, sports and community development across the Left Bank of the Siang River.
The organisation has launched its first major initiative under the theme “Save Water, Save Mebo”, calling for greater awareness and collective action to protect rivers, streams and other natural resources in the region.
The organisation said the campaign seeks to encourage communities to adopt sustainable practices and take collective responsibility for safeguarding water resources for present and future generations.
Apart from environmental conservation, Left Bank Warriors will focus on games and sports, youth engagement and community development, with an objective to provide young people with opportunities to participate in constructive activities, nurture sporting talent and contribute to local development.
The organisation said it would work towards bringing people of the Left Bank together and fostering greater community participation in environmental protection and local development.
“Save Water, Save Mebo” will remain the organisation’s guiding message as it begins its efforts to build a more environmentally conscious, active and united community in the Mebo region.
