West Siang Police seizes suspected heroin in Aalo, one arrested

ITANAGAR, Sep 1: The Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) of West Siang Police has seized 2.38 grams of suspected heroin from a rented premises in Upper Colony, Aalo, and arrested one person in connection with the case.

The seizure was made on Friday last following credible intelligence regarding suspected narcotics activity at the premises.

Police said the suspected heroin had a gross weight of 2.38 grams, packed in two containers weighing 0.95 grams and 1.43 grams, including packaging. An empty vial, a used syringe and a mobile phone were also seized during the operation.

The raid was conducted by a police team led by Inspector Yomken Riram, Officer-in-Charge, Aalo Police Station, and SI Manthan Chithan of the ADS, under the supervision of DySP (HQ) Taba Biroy.

The search and seizure proceedings were conducted in the presence of Additional District Magistrate-cum-Executive Magistrate Mabi Taipodia Jini and independent witnesses. Police said the entire process was video-recorded and uploaded to the e-Sakshya portal.

Aalo PS Case No. 36/2026 has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The arrested person has been identified as Taku Doley.

Police said the accused has been sent to judicial custody following completion of police remand and that further investigation is underway to trace the alleged supply chain and identify other persons involved.

West Siang Police appealed to the public to share credible information regarding illicit drug activities, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept confidential.
