NAMSAI, Sep 2: In a significant initiative, a women-led farmer producer company in Namsai has expanded the market reach of locally produced agricultural commodities with the dispatch of 17 metric tonnes of buckwheat to G.S. International, Kanpur, on Wednesday.
The consignment was dispatched by Retusa Women Farmer Producer Company Ltd (WFPCL) in the presence of its chairperson Onjini Namchoom and under the leadership of CEO (In-charge) Mimar Basar.
The buckwheat was collectively procured from Mahila Kisans of Lower Dibang Valley, Lohit and Namsai districts with support from the Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSRLM).
The initiative is aimed at creating direct market linkages between women producers and buyers outside the state, enabling farmers to aggregate their produce, access larger markets and potentially secure better prices.
Retusa WFPCL’s procurement and dispatch operation was coordinated by Procurement Manager Rajawan Mantaw along with the company’s team.
Promoted by ArSRLM with technical support from the Foundation for Development of Rural Value Chains (FDRVC), New Delhi, Retusa WFPCL has been working to strengthen collective marketing and value-chain opportunities for rural women producers.
The latest consignment marks another effort by the company to move women farmers beyond individual production and towards organised aggregation and market participation.
Such market linkages are expected to enhance the bargaining power of Mahila Kisans and contribute to improved household incomes and sustainable rural livelihoods in the participating districts.
The initiative also underscores the potential of women-led Farmer Producer Companies to connect Arunachal Pradesh’s agricultural produce with markets beyond the state while promoting collective and commercially oriented farming, officials said.
