ZIRO, Sep 4: The Lower Subansiri district administration and local stakeholders have stepped up preparations for the Ziro Festival of Music 2026, with a focus on ensuring effective coordination, security, traffic management, essential services and environmental sustainability during the event.
A preparatory coordination meeting was held at the DC Office's Golden Jubilee Hall here on Friday. The meeting was chaired by MLA Hage Appa and attended by in-charge Deputy Commissioner Hage Tarung and Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, besides officials from various departments and representatives of local organisations.
Addressing the meeting, Hage Appa said that although the festival originated in the heartland of the Apatani community, it has evolved into a major cultural platform showcasing the diversity and cultural richness of Arunachal Pradesh. He called upon all departments and stakeholders to work in close coordination to ensure a safe, welcoming and memorable experience for artists, visitors and local residents.
The meeting reviewed arrangements concerning venue management, public works, power supply, drinking water, emergency services and traffic regulation, with specific responsibilities assigned to the concerned departments.
Special emphasis was placed on cleanliness and environmental sustainability. The Urban Development team presented a comprehensive solid waste management plan aimed at maintaining cleanliness in and around the festival venue and ensuring responsible waste disposal during the event.
SP Keni Bagra briefed the meeting on the proposed security arrangements and traffic management measures. He informed that a clear and accessible traffic route map would be finalised and shared with the public shortly to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles and visitors.
Hage Appa expressed confidence that the collective efforts of the administration, departments and local community would help make the 2026 edition of the Ziro Festival of Music a successful and well-organised event. (DIPRO)
