ITANAGAR, Sep 7: The Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCS&T) on Monday inaugurated a five-day Advanced SolidWorks CAD Software Training Programme at the Reverse Engineering Lab of the Centre of Excellence for Science, Technology, Innovation and Research (CoESTIR).
The programme, being held from September 7 to 11, aims to enhance technical skills among students and professionals and bridge the gap between academic learning and industry-oriented engineering practices.
APSCS&T Chairman Dr Tage Taki, attending the inaugural ceremony, highlighted the rapid advancement of computer-aided design (CAD) technologies. Recalling his early engineering days when advanced CAD tools were not widely available, he encouraged the participants to acquire modern technical skills and utilise them to promote innovation and economic development in the region.
APSCS&T Director-cum-Member Secretary CD Mungyak while delivering the welcome address highlighted the importance of such capacity-building initiatives in strengthening the State’s technical ecosystem.
Prof Arnab Bandopadhyay and Prof Sandeep Singh of the North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), who attended as special guests, were acknowledged for their contribution to the establishment of CoESTIR and for helping shape the Council’s technological roadmap.
The training has brought together participants from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Jote, Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic (RGGP), Itanagar, and technical personnel of APSCS&T.
The hands-on programme covers advanced aspects of SolidWorks, including graphical user interface optimisation, complex part design, advanced surface creation, multibody modelling and reverse engineering of scanned STL mesh models.
The technical sessions are being conducted by Umesh Melkani, Research Scholar at IIT Guwahati, and Alok Singh Negi, founder of Himalayer Additive Creations Pvt Ltd.
The inaugural programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Pakngu Lombi, Deputy Director, APSCS&T, after which participants commenced the technical sessions.
