ITANAGAR, Sep 9: In a coordinated emergency response, the Department of Civil Aviation (GoAP) in coordination with the Indian Air Force (IAF) successfully evacuated two seriously injured patients from Mechuka, Shi-Yomi district to Mohanbari, Dibrugarh on Tuesday.
The emergency evacuation was initiated on the indent placed by Ritu Tawe, Circle Officer Mechuka, considering the critical condition of Yajap Pujor Jibng (40), and Chapi Pudur (45).
The IAF helicopter reached Mechuka at around 1450 hrs and evacuated the patients to Mohanbari, Dibrugarh at approximately 1620 hrs. The patients were thereafter shifted to a hospital at Dibrugarh by ambulance for further treatment.
During the operation, ADC Aalo Mabi Taipodia Jini, DMO Aalo Dr Linya Lollen and Medical Superintendent Aalo Dr Karken Rina acted proactively and ensured timely medical intervention and necessary medical support at Helipad Aalo while the patients were being transferred from one helicopter to another.
The successful evacuation of patients by the IAF was the result of a concerted team effort involving the Dept of Civil Aviation, Air Head Quarter, Eastern Air Command (IAF) Shillong, district administrations at Mechuka and Aalo, MO Mechuka and health authorities at Aalo, Addl Resident Commissioner Mohanbari and their Health team, with every stakeholder responding promptly to ensure that the patients received timely medical assistance.
In spite of short notice and challenging weather conditions over Tato and small window before sunset, the EAC (IAF) HQ Shillong and Air Head Quarter New Delhi, prioritized the patient evacuation from Mechuka.
Meanwhile, the Dept of Civil Aviation has sincerely acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of all officers, personnel and agencies involved in the operation.
Special thanks and gratitude are also extended to the Indian Air Force for its prompt response and invaluable support in ensuring the safe and timely evacuation of the patients. (DIPR)
