KOYU/NARI, Sep 12: Community members and local representatives have announced a three-day peaceful foot march from Koyu headquarters to Nari Football Ground on September 15–17, seeking government intervention on five longstanding demands related to healthcare, telecommunications, education, roads and administrative services.
The proposed march will cover around 90–95 km. The demands include strengthening of Koyu Primary Health Centre with an additional doctor and essential staff, improving unreliable BSNL connectivity, appointing subject teachers in local schools, constructing proper motorable roads in and around Koyu, and filling vacant Lower Division Clerk posts at the Administrative Circle Office.
Abraham Ili Koyu, GPC and leader of the proposed march, said the programme was intended to draw the government’s attention to the public grievances through peaceful and democratic means.
He warned that if concrete steps were not taken to address the demands, the movement would be extended from Nari to Itanagar from September 18.
The organisers appealed to residents, community organisations, youth groups and other stakeholders to participate in the march, reiterating that it would remain peaceful and democratic.
