YACHULI, Sep 12: Neelam Taram Govt College Yachuli (NTGCY) organised a one-day workshop on financial literacy, skill development and cybercrime awareness on Friday to equip students and staff with knowledge of financial management, banking services and online safety.
The programme was organised by the Career Counselling and Guidance Cell of NTGCY in collaboration with the Keyi Panyor district administration, Cyber Crime Police Station, Itanagar, and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
In his welcome address, NTGCY Vice Principal Dr Techi Upen Tara underlined the relevance of financial literacy and cybercrime awareness in everyday life and stressed the need for greater awareness among students and employees.
RBI Itanagar Manager Amit Yadav conducted the session on financial literacy, explaining budgeting, savings, investment, banking services, credit scores and the Indian banking system. He also briefed participants on government schemes, including PM Vidyalaxmi, PMJJBY, PMSBY and Atal Pension Yojana, as well as insurance and investment options.
Yadav further discussed digital payment systems such as UPI and NEFT, safe banking practices and precautions against online fraud. He also apprised participants of career opportunities in the RBI and its recruitment process.
Inspector Bumchu Krong, Officer-in-Charge of the Cyber Crime Police Station, Itanagar, conducted the session on cybercrime awareness. He spoke on phishing, hacking, malware, identity theft, online fraud, cyberbullying and child-related cyber offences, besides explaining relevant legal provisions.
Participants were also briefed on device security, strong passwords, biometric authentication, software updates and two-factor authentication on digital platforms. Krong introduced StopNCII.org and explained the process for reporting the non-consensual sharing of intimate images.
