MLA Kadu chairs meeting on ‘damage assessment’ in Nari-Koyu constituency

LIKABALI, Sep 12: Nari-Koyu MLA Tojir Kadu chaired a meeting to assess the damages caused by flash floods, cloudbursts and landslides that occurred on June 20 and 28 in various parts of the constituency in Lower Siang district.

Convened primarily to take stock of the damages reported from the affected areas and review the damage assessment reports prepared by the concerned line departments, the meeting was attended by Ainstein Koyu, ADC Nari; Pakmo Koyu, ZPC Lower Siang; Nyachi Koyu, ZPM Koyu; Dr Marngam Kakki, Assistant Commissioner Koyu; Token Kobo, mandal president, senior leaders, PRI representatives, HoDs and representatives of the concerned departments.

During the meeting, the ADC presented detailed reports on the damages assessed by the respective departments. The reports covered the impact on roads, bridges, agriculture, public infrastructure, livelihood assets and other affected sectors. Detailed discussions were also held with PRI representatives to understand the ground situation and the immediate requirements of the affected communities.

Members took up various ‘issues’ concerning the extent of damage, assessment gaps and the need for timely intervention. The meeting also reviewed the way forward for ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of damages, proper coordination among departments and timely follow-up on relief, restoration and rehabilitation measures.

The MLA emphasized that the actual extent of damage suffered by the people must be properly documented so that the genuine concerns and requirements of the affected communities can be placed before the competent authorities for appropriate relief and rehabilitation.

He further stressed the need for coordinated efforts by all concerned departments and field-level functionaries to ensure that assessment and follow-up actions are carried out promptly and effectively. (DIPRO)
