ITANAGAR, Sep 12: The All Arunachal Pradesh Youth Organization (AAPYO) has urged the Highway Department to ensure regular maintenance of NH-415 Package-B until the project is re-tendered and construction works resume.
Addressing reporters at the Arunachal Press Club here on Saturday, AAPYO president Kipa Kanam welcomed the State government’s decision to terminate the contract of M/s Woodhill Shivam, citing delays and concerns over the quality of road and flyover pier construction.
Kanam said maintenance of the existing road was essential to ensure smooth traffic movement and address technical and safety concerns during the transition period.
He also called for the demolition of flyover piers whose structural quality had been questioned by the organisation, subject to assessment by competent technical authorities, in the interest of public safety.
AAPYO sought greater participation in quality monitoring and requested that the organisation be allowed to participate as a stakeholder or observer during appropriate joint inspections, while technical decisions remain with the competent authorities and experts.
Kanam further urged the authorities to identify stretches requiring dismantling or corrective measures and incorporate the necessary works into the upcoming re-tendering process.
He said AAPYO would continue to monitor the project, particularly matters concerning structural safety, construction quality, road maintenance and timely completion of the remaining works.
