Siang Trust-hosted free health camp in U/Siang’s Millang vill benefits over 60

ITANAGAR, Sep 13: Siang Trust organized a free health camp at Millang village in Upper Siang district on Saturday, bringing essential healthcare services to the doorstep of the people in the remote village.

The medical team, led by Dr Saibal Bhattacharjee, JDHS (Retd), included Dr Runi Tasung, JDHS (Retd), Dr Togram Tabing, Dental Surgeon, along with other supporting medical staff and volunteers of Siang Trust.

Siang Trust president Group Captain (rtd) Mohonto Panging Pao personally liaised with the concerned authorities and supervised the camp.

Over 60 villagers, including elderly persons and children, availed themselves of the health services. The beneficiaries underwent medical examinations and provided medicines as required.

Dr Otem Pertin, SMO and MO i/c Mariyang, was also present and extended support to the camp.

As part of the health screening, blood pressure and blood sugar levels of the participants were checked. While most of the villagers were found to have normal pressure and sugar level, a few cases of high blood pressure and diabetes were detected. The medical team advised the concerned individuals regarding appropriate treatment, regular monitoring and necessary lifestyle precautions.

During the camp, Dr Tasung and Dr Pertin also sensitized the villagers about various government health schemes and facilities available for the treatment and management of serious illnesses, including tuberculosis (TB), cancer and kidney-related ailments requiring dialysis.

The awareness session was particularly useful for villagers who may otherwise face difficulties in accessing information about such specialised healthcare services.

The health camp received an encouraging response from the local community. The villagers expressed their appreciation for the initiative of Siang Trust in taking essential healthcare services closer to the people living in remote villages.

The initiative reflects the Siang Trust’s continued commitment to community service, preventive healthcare and reaching underserved populations, particularly in areas where access to specialised medical facilities remains challenging.
