DAPORIJO, Sep 13: Commissioner Home & IPR (GoAP) Nyali Ete, the Electoral Roll Observer for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, visited Upper Subansiri district on Saturday to review the preparedness and progress of the SIR exercise and interact with various stakeholders.
During his visit, Ete held a detailed meeting with representatives of political parties, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs). He reviewed the ongoing SIR process and stressed the importance of transparency, accuracy, inclusiveness and effective coordination among all stakeholders to ensure a smooth and credible electoral roll revision process.
As part of the visit, Ete also launched the Digital Information Video Wall at the District Secretariat, Daporijo. The initiative is aimed at disseminating important public information, government programmes, announcements and voter-related awareness messages through a modern and accessible digital platform.
Another significant highlight of the programme was the launch of the official uniform for the Assistant Level Coordinators (ALCs) of the District Administration, Daporijo. The initiative is intended to provide a distinct identity to ALCs and facilitate their effective engagement with the public during field-level activities.
On Sunday, Ete undertook a field visit to polling stations in Giba, Chetam and Nilling circles. During the visit, he interacted with polling-level officials, BLOs, local representatives and other stakeholders and took stock of the ground-level preparedness for the SIR exercise. He also sought feedback on issues being faced in the field and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that eligible citizens are duly included in the electoral rolls and that the revision process is conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
A noteworthy gesture during the visit was Ete’s donation of a printer to Govt Sec School (GSS) Giba, reflecting his commitment towards supporting educational institutions and strengthening basic facilities for students and teachers in the field.
The visit provided an opportunity for direct interaction with stakeholders at both the administrative and grassroots levels and reinforced the commitment of the District Administration towards ensuring a transparent, inclusive and citizen-centric electoral process. (DIPRO)
