PASIGHAT, Sep 13: Ponung Nangkar was crowned Miss Lune 2026 during the grand finale of the pageant held at Gi:di Notko here, as part of the Central Solung festival celebration.
Nangkar also won the Best Costume title and took home the winner’s prize of Rs 1.5 lakh.
Api Tatin was declared the 1st Runner-Up and won the Miss Catwalk title, while Augusty Taggu secured the 2nd Runner-Up position and also got Miss Talent award.
Other subtitle holders included Ainam Tatin as Miss Congeniality, Runima Pertin as Miss Personality and Ponung Eko as Miss Popular.
The programme featured the traditional round, a fitness presentation by the East Siang Body Building Association, formal round, casual round and gown round, along with musical performances.
Host Jobom Cheng Mengu also highlighted a special cultural element of the event—the display of images conceptualized by Aroti Jongkey, which depicted elements of Adi mythology and folktales. The initiative added a cultural dimension to the pageant, connecting the celebration of young talent with the community’s traditional stories and heritage.
The finale was attended by Dui Gao and Binaymoti Modi, Vice Principal Govt Hr Sec School Mebo. The panel of judges comprised Er Mari Ete, along with Pura Sumpi, reigning Miss Universe Arunachal 2025, and Kime Ana Lingu, reigning Mrs Arunachal 4th Runner-Up 2025.
Addressing the contestants, chief guest Gao encouraged the young participants to value the experience of taking part in the competition, noting that not everyone can emerge as a winner, but participation itself provides an opportunity to learn, gain confidence and acquire valuable experiences.
She also advised them to give equal importance to their education and academic pursuits.
Modi emphasized the importance of education and encouraged the young participants to remain focused on their studies while pursuing their interests and talents.
Central Solung Festival Celebration Committee 2026 president Jorsing Moyong also spoke.
