Two arrested in knife-point snatching case in Nlg

ITANAGAR, Sep 14: Naharlagun Police has arrested two persons in connection with an alleged knife-point snatching incident and recovered a knife, some cash and the scooter allegedly used in the offence.

The incident reportedly occurred within the Naharlagun Police Station area on Saturday when a 26-year-old supplier of chocolates, food items and other eatables was returning to Naharlagun after making deliveries. At around 12:04 pm, near the turn close to G-Sector Secondary School, two unidentified persons allegedly intercepted him by blocking his scooter with a red-coloured Aprilia scooter.

According to the complaint, one of the accused allegedly brandished a knife and placed it near the complainant’s stomach before snatching Rs 10,000 from his pocket. The accused persons then fled from the spot on their scooter.

Following the complaint, Naharlagun Police Station, under the leadership of Inspector K Dev, registered a case (No. 122/2026) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation.

During the investigation, police identified and apprehended the two alleged accused persons -- Kabak Lapang, 19, son of Kabak Tapak, and Takam Dai, 26, son of Takam Tapik.

Police also recovered the knife allegedly used in the incident, along with approximately Rs 4,500 suspected to be part of the proceeds of the crime. The scooter allegedly used in the offence was traced and taken into police custody for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Naharlagun Superintendent of Police, Dr Nyelam Nega, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens and taking swift and lawful action against persons involved in street crimes and offences against the public.
