ZIRO, Sep 15: The Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU), Ziro, on Tuesday organised a Red Run Mini Marathon in collaboratioZIRO, Sep 15: The Indira Gandhi Technological and Medical Sciences University (IGTAMSU), Ziro, on Tuesday organised a Red Run Mini Marathon in collaboration with its Red Ribbon Club and the Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society (APSACS) to promote HIV/AIDS awareness and encourage a stigma-free society.
Held under the theme “Run for Awareness, Stride for a Stigma-Free Tomorrow,” the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing various departments of the university.
The mini marathon began at Pai Gate, Hapoli, and culminated at BSNL Office Point, Ziro. Trade Development Officer Tai Arun flagged off the run.
Addressing the gathering, Anwar Hussain, Head of the Department of Commerce and Management, IGTAMSU, highlighted the importance of the initiative and thanked the officer for encouraging the participating students.
During the prize-distribution ceremony, Tai Arun lauded the participants and said that the purpose behind such an initiative was more important than winning the competition. He urged students to maintain a drug-free campus, remain informed about health concerns such as HIV/AIDS and contribute towards building a healthy society. He also called upon the youth to contribute to the realisation of the vision of Viksit Bharat.
In the boys’ category, Tatlom Taying emerged as the winner, followed by Kanggam Taggu and Disi Tato as the first and second runners-up, respectively. In the girls’ category, Apung Konia secured the first position, while Tamo Kuniya and Mimi Khabisow finished as the first and second runners-up.
Certificates and mementos were presented to the winners, while cash prizes were awarded to the first-prize winners in both categories.
