Khonsa, Sep 15: The Department of Horticulture, Tirap district, organized a farmers training programme on potential horticulture crops under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2026–27 here today.
The training programme was specially organized for farmers from eight blocks, namely Borduria-Bogapani, Bari-Basip, Khela-Lamsa, Khonsa, Kapu, Dadam, Lazu, and Tutnu.
Graced by Tirap Deputy Commissioner Badonlum Tawsik as chief guest, besides ZPM Khonsa block as guest of honour, and District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Khonsa, the programme commenced with a welcome address by T Ronya, District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Khonsa.
The technical sessions were conducted by experienced resource persons.
Dr A K Tiwari, SMS, KVK Deomali, delivered training on Arecanut and Litchi.
N Wangno, ADO Khonsa, spoke on Ginger, while T Sumnyan, HDO Khonsa, provided technical guidance on Large Cardamom and Passion Fruit.
Around 100 farmers from the eight blocks participated in the training programme. The participants received valuable technical knowledge on scientific cultivation practices, crop management and the potential of various horticultural crops under MIDH 2026–27. (DIPRO)
