ZIRO, Sep 19: With the VVIPs, foreign diplomats and other dignitaries expected to arrive in Ziro Valley during the upcoming Ziro Festival of Music (ZFM), Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Oli Perme today convened an emergency coordination meeting at her chamber in the District Secretariat here to take a review of all necessary arrangements.
The meeting primarily focused on ensuring seamless coordination and adequate preparedness for the arrival, movement and stay of VVIPs and foreign dignitaries, with particular emphasis on accommodation, cleanliness and sanitation, medical facilities, hospitality, traffic management, security, law and order, lighting, signage and inter-departmental coordination, said an official press note.
SDO Hage Tarung, along with HoD and senior officials, including Dr Millo Kunya (DMO); Taru Maji (EE, PWD); Tai Sangkio (EE, UD&H); Tung Sono (EE, PHE&WS), and Officers-in-Charge of Ziro and Old Ziro police stations, attended the meeting.
The DC directed all concerned departments to remain in a state of heightened preparedness and work in close coordination to ensure safe, smooth and dignified movement and stay of the visiting VVIPs, foreign diplomats, dignitaries and other visitors. She stressed the need for prompt response, coordinated action and strict adherence to assigned responsibilities.
Reviewing security and traffic arrangements, the DC suggested that the Police Department requisition additional police personnel to effectively manage traffic, public gatherings and security requirements during the festival period. She also directed the concerned departments to ensure adequate high-level lighting and proper signage at strategic locations and public places, particularly along important routes and areas witnessing increased movement.
Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik is expected to grace the Ziro Festival of Music and encourage the people of Ziro Valley in their efforts towards promotion and preservation of the rich Apatani art, culture, traditions and unique way of life.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu is also expected to visit Ziro Valley during the festival period. During his visit, the CM is expected to inaugurate a series of developmental infrastructure projects and lay foundation stones for upcoming projects.
As part of the welfare and public outreach initiatives associated with the festival, a medical camp will be organized at Nyilang Grayu Govt Sec School, Tajang, featuring a blood donation programme and health check-ups for Safai Mitras.
Earlier in the day, the District Administration organized a mass social service from Pai Gate, Hapoli to Pine Groves, Old Ziro, aimed at ensuring a clean, safe and welcoming environment ahead of ZFM 2026.
Local MLA Hage Appa, administrative officers, HoDs, police and ITBP personnel, students and teachers from various schools and colleges, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), SHGs, PRI members and officials actively participated in the programme.
