ROING, Sep 19: Arunachal Pradesh State Food Commission Chairman Tarh Tarak and Member Maji Chokar reviewed the implementation of schemes under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Lower Dibang Valley district at the DC Conference Hall, Roing, on Saturday. Officials from the Departments of Food and Civil Supplies, Health and Family Welfare, Education, and Women and Child Development participated in the review meeting.
Tarak appreciated the district administration and implementing departments for their preparedness and implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in the district. He said the Commission was committed to reaching all parts of the State, understanding issues at the grassroots level and addressing grievances related to implementation of NFSA schemes. Issues raised during the meeting, he added, would be placed before the State government.
Tarak also highlighted the State government’s plan to construct 364 kitchen sheds in schools for preparation of Mid-Day Meals. He said the Commission was pursuing issues including enhancement of construction rates for kitchen sheds, provision of kitchen utensils and LPG cylinders, and enhancement of cooks’ honorarium for improved implementation of PM POSHAN.
The Chairman also raised concerns regarding food adulteration and stressed the need for establishing two food-testing laboratories in the State. He also called for provision of portable food-testing kits at locations where meals are served to beneficiaries.
Member Maji Chokar briefed the participants on the jurisdiction, powers and functions of the State Food Commission. He said the Commission, constituted under the NFSA, is empowered to monitor and review the implementation of food security schemes at the grassroots level.
ADC-cum-District Grievance Redressal Officer Lui Shiba, DMO Dr SJ Mitapo, DRCHO Dr Raju Mena, DDSE Amih Lego, CDPOs of Roing, Dambuk and Hunli blocks, and SDFCSO Mudang Bagang briefed the Commission on the status of various schemes and highlighted implementation-related issues.
