ITANAGAR, Sep 19: Kamle Deputy Commissioner JT Obi has assured the Raga Press Club (RPC) of providing suitable land for construction of a permanent press club building.
The assurance was given during the official launching of the RPC, where the DC acknowledged the need for a dedicated space for journalists and assured necessary support from the district administration.
Obi urged journalists to uphold professional ethics, avoid misinformation and ensure that reports are factual and in the public interest. He also cautioned against partial reporting and working under the influence of individuals or vested interests. “We want journalists who know what they are doing, rather than spreading misinformation,” he said.
Congratulating the RPC members, Arunachal Press Club (APC) president Amar Sangno urged journalists to strictly follow the Press Council of India guidelines and maintain high standards of professional ethics.
“We must always question ourselves on how to maintain ethical journalism without hurting the sentiments of society,” he said.
Sangno also appealed to the district administration to disseminate district-related information through the RPC for wider public circulation and assured that the APC would safeguard the interests and rights of working journalists.
APUWJ president Dodum Yangfo assured continued support to the RPC and urged journalists to work with sensitivity and responsibility. He encouraged them to report the truth without fear to earn and retain public confidence.
