ITANAGAR, Sep 23: Health and Family Welfare Minister Biyuram Wahge on Wednesday inaugurated the state-level “Energy for Health – Arunachal Pradesh” initiative, a collaborative programme of the Department of Health and Family Welfare and SELCO Foundation aimed at strengthening reliable and sustainable power supply to healthcare facilities across the State.
The programme was inaugurated at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Itafort here, in the presence of the Health and FW Commissioner and Secretary, senior officials of the department and representatives of SELCO Foundation.
Under the initiative, 393 health facilities across Arunachal Pradesh have been solarised, with a focus on remote and underserved areas where reliable electricity remains a challenge.
Wahge said the initiative marked another step towards bringing dependable healthcare closer to people living in remote and far-flung communities. He said reliable power supply would help health centres remain functional during power disruptions, reduce dependence on diesel-based backup systems and provide a more dependable working environment for healthcare personnel.
Importantly, the initiative has been implemented entirely through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support, with no financial burden on the state government, the Health Minister said.
The programme also witnessed the launch of the Energy for Health – Arunachal Pradesh Photo Book, Saura e-Mitra App, a Digital Incident Management System, and the Health Facility and Human Resource Mapping System (HFHRMS) Web Application.
The digital initiatives are expected to strengthen monitoring, incident management and mapping of health facilities and human resources, complementing the clean-energy interventions.
The Health Department said the initiative would support uninterrupted healthcare services, reduce dependence on diesel, improve the working environment of healthcare personnel and promote resilient and sustainable health infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh.
The department acknowledged the contribution of SELCO Foundation and other development partners towards strengthening last-mile healthcare delivery through clean and sustainable energy solutions.
The initiative carries the message: “Reliable Energy for Better Healthcare.”
