ITANAGAR, Sep 23: The Arunachal Pradesh Centre of Excellence on Artificial Intelligence (AI-CoE) on Wednesday commenced its first 10-day AI Boot Camp and Hackathon at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, aimed at strengthening AI skills and fostering innovation among the state’s youth.
The programme was inaugurated by the Director of IIT Guwahati in the presence of representatives of NIT Arunachal Pradesh, State Council of IT and eGovernance (SCITeG), and the Department of IT and Communication, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The initiative is being organised under the AI-CoE, an IndiaAI-MeitY initiative under SCITeG, Department of IT and Communication, in collaboration with IIT Guwahati and NIT Arunachal Pradesh.
A total of 40 candidates have been selected from 97 applications received for the 10-day programme being held at IIT Guwahati.
The AI Boot Camp, scheduled from September 23 to October 1, will provide participants with hands-on exposure to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Python programming and Natural Language Processing through expert-led sessions, practical exercises and mentoring.
The Hackathon, scheduled for October 2 and 3, will provide participants an opportunity to apply their learning to develop innovative, use-case-oriented AI solutions to real-world challenges. Participants will be evaluated on technical skills, understanding of AI and machine learning, innovation, problem-solving ability and practical application of their solutions.
The Director of IIT Guwahati appreciated the State Government’s initiative and encouraged the participants to make the most of the Boot Camp and Hackathon. He urged them to approach the programme with enthusiasm and a strong desire to learn.
He also appreciated the efforts of the Chief Secretary and Secretary, IT and Communication, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, and the Director of NIT Arunachal Pradesh in facilitating the programme within a short period.
The 10-day programme is aimed at promoting AI awareness, capacity building and innovation among college students, youths and AI enthusiasts from Arunachal Pradesh. It is also expected to contribute to building a skilled digital workforce and strengthening the state’s emerging AI ecosystem.
The initiative seeks to lay the foundation for sustained capacity building, innovation and adoption of AI-driven solutions for the development of Arunachal Pradesh.
