ITANAGAR, Sep 23: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Lower Subansiri carried out a Field Day on Sunflower at Passa village in Keyi Panyor district to showcase and disseminate improved agricultural technologies demonstrated by KVK among local farmers.
The programme aimed to provide farmers with practical knowledge on scientific sunflower cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest management, and available marketing opportunities.
The Field Day served as an important platform for interaction between farmers and KVK scientists, enabling participants to discuss field-level experiences and adopt improved technologies for enhancing sunflower production and profitability.
During the programme, Yowa Nunu, SMS (Agronomy), apprised the farmers about the appropriate harvesting time, post-harvest management practices, marketing avenues, and market linkages for sunflower. He emphasized the importance of timely harvesting and proper handling of the produce to minimize losses and maintain quality.
Other KVK scientists and subject matter specialists who participated in the programme included Dr Hage Manty, SMS (Agricultural Extension). The experts interacted with the farmers and provided technical guidance on various aspects of crop production and farm management.
The programme witnessed active participation of 24 farmers, who benefited from the technical information, demonstrations, and expert interaction. The farmers expressed their interest in adopting the improved technologies and practices demonstrated by KVK for better productivity and income.
The Field Day concluded with an interactive session in which farmers shared their experiences and raised queries related to sunflower cultivation, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and marketing.
