ZIRO, Sep 26: A voluntary blood donation camp was organised at the Blood Centre of Gyati Takka Zonal General Hospital (GTZGH) here, adding a social service dimension to the ongoing Ziro Festival of Music.
The camp was organised under the “SevaMeriYagdan” initiative by the BJP Lower Subansiri unit in collaboration with the District Administration, Lower Subansiri, and medical staff of GTZGH. It was held as part of the Nationwide Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Drive 2026.
A total of 24 people came forward to donate blood. Following medical screening, nine units were collected, comprising three units of A+, one unit of B+ and five units of O+ blood.
Medical officials said 14 willing donors were deferred after screening in accordance with prescribed health guidelines. The camp concluded without any adverse donor reactions.
State BJP president Kaling Moyong, vice-president Dungoli Libang and Ziro-Hapoli MLA Hage Appa visited the camp and appreciated the initiative. They highlighted voluntary blood donation as an important civic responsibility and noted the role of such drives in supporting patients in need of blood.
The visiting leaders also appreciated the coordination among the organisers, district administration and healthcare personnel in conducting the camp alongside the major cultural festival.
Officials of the GTZGH Blood Centre expressed gratitude to the donors, volunteers and organisers for their participation and support. They said collaborative blood donation drives help strengthen the district's blood reserves while promoting a culture of community service and social responsibility. (DIPRO)
