ITANAGAR, Oct 2: The Itanagar Municipal Corporation (IMC) has launched a technology-driven mobile application aimed at making waste collection in the capital city smarter, faster and more responsive.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched the IMC App during the Swachh Bharat Diwas programme in Itanagar.
The application features live garbage truck tracking, enabling residents to view the real-time location of waste collection vehicles and hand over their waste when the vehicle is nearby, thereby reducing waiting time and missed collection rounds.
The app also allows citizens to report overflowing waste bins by uploading photographs. Complaints submitted through the application are received on the IMC dashboard, enabling the concerned teams to respond and clear the reported waste.
Another feature, before-and-after tracking, allows the IMC to record photographs of reported waste sites before and after clearance. This is intended to facilitate monitoring of sanitation activities and ensure timely action on complaints.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening citizen participation and improving the efficiency and accountability of municipal waste management in Itanagar.
