Tasing visits Parong village to review preparedness for SUMP PFR activities

ITANAGAR, Oct 4: Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Ojing Tasing, who is also the Chairman of the Empowered High-Level Committee on the proposed Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), on Sunday visited the proposed pre-feasibility report (PFR) site at Parong village to review ground-level preparedness for undertaking the PFR activities.

According to Tasing, the visit focused on site readiness, coordination among concerned departments and agencies, and logistical and administrative arrangements required for undertaking the PFR activities.

The minister was accompanied by Divisional Commissioner (East), IGP (Central Range), Siang Deputy Commissioner and Deputy SP (HQ), Siang, and other officials.

Tasing said the SUMP is a project of national interest and carries significance for the future of Arunachal Pradesh and the country.

He said the process would be guided by dialogue, transparency and an inclusive approach, with the aspirations, welfare and long-term development of the people of the region remaining central to the process.

“Development must move forward with the people, for the people, and towards a stronger and more prosperous Siang,” Tasing said in a social media post.

The visit comes as preparations for the PFR activities gather pace in the Siang region.
