NEW DELHI, Oct 5: Arunachal Pradesh has received two Best Performing State Awards for its performance in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) and PMAY-U 2.0 at the World Habitat Day 2026 celebrations organised by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) at Vigyan Bhawan here on Monday.
The State was recognised in two important categories for its exemplary performance in providing affordable housing to eligible urban beneficiaries.
Arunachal Pradesh received the Best Performing State Award for achieving 100 per cent timely completion of houses sanctioned under PMAY-U. The recognition highlights the state’s performance in completing sanctioned houses within stipulated timelines and ensuring delivery of housing benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
The State also received the Best Performing State Award under PMAY-U 2.0 for recording the second-highest performance under the new phase of the flagship urban housing programme.
The awards recognise the efforts of the State Government, Department of Urban Affairs, Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Urban Local Bodies across the State, district administrations and other stakeholders involved in implementation of the schemes.
The recognition assumes significance in view of the difficult terrain, scattered settlements and logistical challenges faced in implementing housing projects in Arunachal Pradesh. Despite these constraints, the State has continued to focus on timely execution, monitoring and beneficiary-oriented implementation, the department said.
The awards were received by Director, Urban Local Bodies, Hano Takka, along with officers associated with PMAY-U in Arunachal Pradesh.
