Coord meet concludes with a shared commitment to make Clean Kley River 2026 ‘a sustainable community movement’

ZIRO, Oct 7: A high-level coordination meeting was held today at the District Secretariat conference hall here under the chairmanship of Hage Tarung, SDO-cum-DC In-charge, to deliberate and finalize plans for the upcoming calendar event, ‘Clean Kley River Mass Social Service 2026’.

During the meeting, Tarung briefed the attendees on the initiative's background and vision, stressing the importance of collective participation from PRI members, local administrative departments, and key stakeholders. He also highlighted the need to assign specific stretches of the river to respective ZPMs for sustained responsibility and long-term upkeep.

Presenting a review of previous editions, Apatani Youth Association (AYA) president Subu Oppo Sala proposed a revised multi-day programme spanning approximately 19 km of the Kley River. Under this plan, preliminary cleaning and preparatory activities will be carried out from November 8 to 12, by the AYA volunteers and hired labourers, culminating in a large-scale mass social service on November 13.

The house engaged in extensive deliberations on establishing long-term, sustainable mechanisms for maintaining the river, including beautifying riverbanks with flowers, developing suitable stretches into self-sustaining tourist spots, installing dustbins, and placing barricades.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to making Clean Kley River 2026 a highly organized, participatory, and sustainable community movement.

Prominent attendees supporting the campaign included Hage Tath (DFCSO), Tai Arun (Trade Development Officer), Millo Lalyang (Dy SP), Shaffali Yadav (DYO), ZPMs Rubu Tadi (Lempia), Millo Tadu (Tajang) and Pura Pugang (Hija), alongside representatives from ALSDYO, ITBP, local police, market communities, senior students, and various district departments.
