CRPF conducts tailoring training for villagers in Daporijo

DAPORIJO, Oct 8: The 138 Battalion CRPF conducted a week-long basic tailoring skill development programme for local residents at Daporijo under its Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2026-27, aimed at promoting self-employment and sustainable livelihoods.

The training was conducted from October 1 to 8 for local boys, girls and villagers residing within the area of responsibility of E/138 Battalion. The programme was organised as part of the CRPF’s community outreach and welfare initiatives.

The training was inaugurated by SDPO Bhanupriya Gurjar at the E/138 Battalion camp on October 1 in the presence of DySP Daporijo Lukchi Kamcham.

At the closing programme, 138 Battalion Commandant Rajesh Sankhla congratulated the trainees and urged them to make effective use of the skills acquired during the training. He said the Civic Action Programme was aimed not only at providing assistance but also at strengthening the bond between the security force and local communities.

Upper Subansiri SP Pawan Kumar Yadav appreciated the initiative and said such programmes reflected the community-oriented approach of security forces while strengthening coordination among the CRPF, civil police and local residents.

As part of the programme, four sewing machines with pedestal stands, stools and tailoring accessories were handed over to beneficiaries. The equipment included threads, scissors, measuring tapes, tailor’s chalk and sewing machine and hand-sewing needles.

The CRPF said the initiative was aimed at enabling beneficiaries to continue tailoring work and use the skills acquired for income generation and self-employment.
