BOLENG, Oct 9: Aimed at sensitizing labourers and other stakeholders about labour laws, workers’ rights, child labour prevention, legal remedies and social security benefits, an awareness camp on ‘New Labour Codes and Child Labour’ was organized at GREF Camp, Boleng in Siang district today.
The sessions covered awareness on the new labour codes, legal provisions relating to child labour and its prevention, legal rights and remedies available to workers, and insurance and social security benefits.
The resource persons for the camp included Niyang Pertin, i/c DL&EO; Kali Mara, CO Boleng; Kido Bagra, Registering Officer; Tani Tamut, LPO of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU); Tabok Tamin, representative of the SBI, Boleng Branch and Martin Passar, president APTUF, Siang District Unit.
The camp emphasized the need for greater awareness among workers and stakeholders regarding their statutory rights, access to welfare schemes and available grievance redressal mechanisms.
Informative brochures were distributed among the participants and application forms for the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) were made available to facilitate awareness and enrolment in these social security schemes.
The interactive session also provided an opportunity for participants to raise queries and seek clarification on issues concerning labour welfare and the implementation of relevant provisions. (DIPRO)
