NABARD-backed workshop on landscape adaptation held at SCCZ

ITANAGAR, Oct 9: A one-day workshop on ‘Exploring Socio-Ecological Drivers and Impacts of Landscape Adaptation’ was organized at Saint Claret College (Autonomous), Ziro, with sponsorship from NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office, Itanagar.

The workshop brought together academicians, researchers, students, government officials and development practitioners to deliberate on sustainable landscape management, climate resilience and rural livelihoods.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr Lalit Kumar Maurya, District Development Manager, NABARD, who delivered a keynote address, highlighted NABARD’s initiatives in climate-resilient agriculture, natural resource management, watershed development and sustainable livelihood promotion, emphasizing the need for integrated approaches to address climate change challenges.

The workshop featured technical sessions by experts including Koj Mama, president Arunachal Pradesh Birding Club, on cultural values and landscape settings; Dr Hage Munth, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, on soil health for sustainable landscapes and livelihoods; and Hibu Dante, Horticulture Development Officer, on enhancing resilience and livelihoods through horticulture.

The sessions encouraged meaningful discussions on socio-ecological factors influencing landscape adaptation and their implications for sustainable development.

Speaking at the valedictory session, Dr Maurya emphasized the importance of community participation, scientific planning and institutional convergence in building climate-resilient landscapes.
