IFCSAP marathon to celebrate indigenous identity

ITANAGAR, Oct 10: The Indigenous Faith and Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) will organise a ‘Run for Identity’ marathon at Nirjuli on Sunday to celebrate the State’s indigenous heritage, cultural identity and community participation.

Health and Family Welfare and Water Resources Minister Biyuram Wahge will flag off the marathon at Nikum Niya Ground at 5.30 am on October 11.

The event will serve as a prelude to the IFCSAP Youth Festival, Seppa 2026, taking the message of cultural preservation beyond traditional celebrations and encouraging greater awareness among the younger generation.

Preparations gathered momentum on Saturday, with around 30 volunteers assembling at the venue to undertake cleaning and logistical arrangements. Festival chairman Pai Dawe and secretary Hilot Mugli briefed the volunteers on their responsibilities to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

The volunteers cleared overgrown grass, collected plastic waste and removed unwanted materials from the ground. An offline registration counter was also opened to facilitate on-the-spot enrolment.

Organisers said the marathon aims to promote physical fitness and healthy living while reinforcing the importance of preserving indigenous traditions and strengthening cultural consciousness.

The event is expected to build momentum for the upcoming youth festival in Seppa, highlighting the collective responsibility of safeguarding Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural identity.
