NES calls for early commissioning of Mega Food Park, launches indigenous animal feed

BANDERDEWA, Oct 19: Nyishi Elite Society (NES) president Prof Tana Showren on Monday called on the state government to expedite the commissioning of the Rongoge Mega Food Park at Dolikoto in Banderdewa circle of Papum Pare district, while urging people to support local entrepreneurs and indigenous manufacturing ventures.

Showren made the appeal while launching Green Gold’s animal feed, described by the organisers as the first such state-produced product, at a programme held at the Mega Food Park. The occasion also witnessed the launch of the facility’s website.

Congratulating the promoters, Showren said the production of animal feed within the state marked a step towards strengthening local entrepreneurship and reducing dependence on products sourced from outside. He said the unit was BIS-certified and its animal feed was urea-free, according to information provided to the visiting team.

The product is currently being marketed in Arunachal Pradesh and parts of Assam. Showren expressed hope that sustained public support would help expand its reach across the Northeast.

He urged local businesspeople to invest in manufacturing and called upon youths to explore entrepreneurship and employment opportunities in emerging industries rather than depend solely on government jobs.

Referring to the employment potential of the Mega Food Park, Showren said around 300 people had reportedly been employed so far. He expressed optimism that, once fully operational, the facility could generate substantial direct and indirect employment and support the livelihoods of thousands of families in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.

Showren said the Mega Food Park was envisioned as a centre for agro-processing and food manufacturing, with the potential to provide better market opportunities for local produce and strengthen the regional economy.

However, he expressed concern over delays in commissioning the project, reportedly due to technical issues and administrative hurdles. He appealed to the state government to intervene urgently, resolve the pending issues and expedite the necessary clearances so that the facility could become fully operational.

He called for a coordinated review of the remaining bottlenecks, stating that early commissioning would help ensure that the benefits of the project reached people across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and the wider Northeast.

ANYA president, who attended the programme as guest of honour, also addressed the gathering. Nyishi Nyem Welfare Society president Likha Aja was among those present.

Lead promoter Likha Maaj briefed the gathering on the challenges faced during the establishment of the Mega Food Park. He assured the visiting NES and ANYA delegations that animal feed for mithun would also be produced according to demand.

The visiting team inspected the laboratory, factory, production facilities and Green Gold integrated farm to assess the ongoing activities.

Several NES office-bearers and members attended the programme, including vice-president (headquarters) Dr Toko Onuj, vice-president (East) Dr Lokam Kani, secretary (protocol) Taba Tadhe Goyang, secretary (coordination) Joram Lali, secretary (research and documentation) Prof Hui Tag, secretary (education and literature) Techi Tajo, and secretary (health and hygiene) Dr Tana Aruna Likha, among others.
