ITANAGAR, Oct 22: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has urged the Rajya Sainik Board (RSB) to adopt a proactive and people-centric approach to ensure that ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their dependants across the State receive timely assistance and welfare benefits.
The Governor made the observation when RSB Director-cum-Secretary Brig (Retd) DCS Kanyal called on him at Lok Bhavan here on Thursday following his appointment to the post.
Congratulating Brig Kanyal on his new responsibility, Parnaik expressed confidence that he would work with dedication and compassion to address the needs of veterans and their families. He said their welfare must remain at the centre of the Board’s activities, in recognition of the sacrifices and distinguished service of armed forces personnel.
The Governor stressed the need to reach beneficiaries in remote and far-flung areas, maintain regular communication with them, understand their concerns and ensure that eligible persons receive the benefits due to them.
Emphasising healthcare access, he suggested empanelling hospitals in different districts, particularly those closer to beneficiaries, to reduce the burden of long-distance travel. He also recommended exploring mobile medical vans to extend healthcare services to veterans and their families in remote areas.
Parnaik further called for wider dissemination of information on government welfare schemes, financial assistance and healthcare facilities. He urged the Board to strengthen coordination with concerned departments and local administrations to resolve grievances promptly.
Brig Kanyal assured the Governor of his commitment to working for the welfare of ex-servicemen, Veer Naris and their families across Arunachal Pradesh.
