Mission Suraksha adopts three-pronged strategy to combat drug menace

ITANAGAR, Oct 25: The Arunachal Pradesh government has reiterated its commitment to combating drug abuse and illicit drug networks through Mission Suraksha, a coordinated initiative focusing on demand reduction, treatment and rehabilitation, and strict enforcement.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said the mission calls for a united, state-wide response to the drug menace, with emphasis on reducing demand, supporting recovery and strengthening enforcement measures.

Home Minister Mama Natung said the initiative reflected the government’s resolve to tackle drug abuse through a sustained and coordinated approach. He emphasised the need to curb drug demand, ensure access to treatment and rehabilitation services, and adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards illicit drug networks.

The three-pronged strategy seeks to combine preventive measures with support for affected individuals and stronger action against drug trafficking and related activities.

The government has positioned Mission Suraksha as part of its broader effort to build a drug-free Arunachal Pradesh.
