Guv urges students to embrace integrity, discipline and selfless leadership

BALIJAN, Oct 25: Governor Lt Gen (Retd) KT Parnaik has urged students to cultivate integrity, courage, modesty, commitment and self-discipline to become responsible leaders and contribute to the development of Arunachal Pradesh and the nation.

The Governor was speaking at the concluding function of the four-day state-level youth leadership camp, ‘Spread Your Wings’, organised by the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Arunachal Pradesh Trust (VKVAPT) at VKV Balijan on Sunday. A total of 145 students from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas across the state participated in the camp, which centred on the theme ‘Love India’.

Emphasising the importance of effective communication, the Governor encouraged students to develop regular reading and writing habits to broaden their knowledge, sharpen their thinking and express ideas with clarity and confidence.

He said good leaders must remain calm under pressure while maintaining determination and clarity of purpose. Leadership also requires the ability to identify challenges, analyse situations and find practical solutions, he added.

The Governor stressed that integrity should become a way of life and that trust, modesty, courage, ownership and conviction were essential qualities for effective leadership. He said authority should be viewed not as a privilege but as a responsibility to guide, inspire and serve others.

Encouraging students to develop their passion alongside intelligence, knowledge and skills, Parnaik said discipline, dedication and determination could help them overcome setbacks and achieve their goals.

He also underscored self-discipline and selflessness as key qualities for success, urging students to lead by example, uphold moral values and prioritise collective well-being over personal recognition.

According to the camp report presented by VKVAPT education officer and camp head P Ajayakumar, the programme aimed to awaken the potential of young people, develop leadership skills and introduce Vivekananda Kendra as a platform for channelling their aspirations towards the welfare of Arunachal Pradesh and the country.

VKVAPT secretary Sujatha Nayak, Northeast Sampark Pramukh and Arunachal Prant Sangathak Rupesh Mathur, and VKV Itanagar principal Krishnan also spoke on the occasion. Camp participants Kelong Baki, Rehanso Kri and Gichik Yachum shared their experiences.
