NAMSAI, Oct 29: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Regional Office, Guwahati, in coordination with the Namsai district administration, launched a special Aadhaar Vahan drive on October 28 to improve enrolment and update coverage, particularly among residents of remote and underserved areas.
The initiative aims to reach people who have been left out of the Aadhaar system and facilitate enrolment and updates for all age groups. Districts with comparatively low Aadhaar enrolment and update coverage have been identified for targeted outreach to ensure more balanced coverage across Arunachal Pradesh.
Under the drive, the Aadhaar Vahan will travel across Namsai district to provide residents with easier access to Aadhaar-related services closer to their homes. UIDAI said similar campaigns would be launched in other low-coverage districts of the state.
The Authority has also urged parents and students to complete the Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) at the ages of five and 15 to maintain the accuracy of children's biometric records.
According to UIDAI, the update should be completed within the prescribed age windows of five to seven years and 15 to 17 years. Failure to complete the mandatory update within these periods may lead to deactivation of the Aadhaar number under existing rules.
Updated biometric information helps ensure smoother Aadhaar-based authentication for services such as school admissions, entrance examinations, scholarships, Direct Benefit Transfer schemes and APAAR ID, wherever applicable. Delays in updating biometric details may create difficulties in accessing such services.
Residents of Namsai have been encouraged to use the mobile service to complete their Aadhaar enrolment and update requirements.
