TEZU, Oct 29: Lohit Deputy Commissioner Kesang Ngurup Damo on Thursday visited the Government Engineering College (GEC), Tezu and interacted with students of its inaugural batch, urging them to remain disciplined, work hard and make the best use of the opportunities offered by the institution.

Accompanied by college principal Dr Anil Choudhary, Damo inspected the campus and reviewed its academic environment and infrastructure.

Addressing the students, the DC said being part of the first batch was both a privilege and a responsibility, as their academic performance, conduct and achievements would set the benchmark for future batches. He encouraged them to strengthen their technical knowledge, develop practical skills and strive for excellence in their chosen fields.

Established by the state government under the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education, GEC Tezu is Arunachal Pradesh’s first government engineering college. The institution began its academic session in 2026–27, offering four-year Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with an approved intake of 30 students in each discipline.

The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, follows the AICTE Model Curriculum and is proposed to be affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University.

Spread across a 60-acre campus developed under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), the institution has academic and administrative blocks, laboratories, ICT-enabled classrooms, workshops, a library and separate hostels for boys and girls.

The college aims to promote technical education, practical learning, innovation and research while preparing skilled engineers to contribute to the development of the state and the country.
