TAWANG, Nov 5: The sixth edition of Monduro, a high-altitude enduro mountain biking championship, will be held in Tawang from November 9 to 14, bringing together national and international riders to compete on the district's challenging Himalayan trails.
Organised by the Tawang Cycling Association (TCA) with sponsorship from the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, this year's event carries the theme “Ghost of the Mountains”. The championship will feature downhill and enduro riders navigating steep descents, rugged terrain and trails at elevations exceeding 14,400 feet.
The event aims to promote adventure sports and position Tawang as a destination for international sports tourism while showcasing the region's natural landscape and Monpa cultural heritage.
TCA president and chief organising executive Advocate Sangey Tsering is leading the organisation of the event, with Dr Dukhum Magu serving as race director. The organisers said arrangements were being made for technical operations, course management and athlete safety in the high-altitude conditions.
The Department of Tourism is the title sponsor, while RiteBite Max Protein, Glucon-D and NAC are among the other partners. Spokehub is the official technical partner.
The championship has received support from the state government as part of its efforts to promote adventure tourism and establish Monduro as a regular event on Arunachal Pradesh's sports calendar. (DIPRO)
